Alternative provision with education at its core
Renew provides personalised alternative provision for young people aged 7–16 who need a different approach to learning.
What sets our provision apart is our ability to combine meaningful curriculum delivery with strong relationships, vocational opportunities and real-world experiences.
Young people continue to learn and make academic progress while developing the confidence, skills and resilience they need to move forward.
Our provision can be delivered through 1:1 or small-group placements, with individual programmes developed around each young person's needs, starting point and agreed outcomes.
Our Futures’ Pathway offers a programme which blends academic support, vocational training, positive role models and mentorship, and enrichment experiences. The pathways will be implemented in a bespoke fashion according to individual needs, but each are detailed below:
Pathway 1: Academic & Curriculum Delivery
Education remains at the heart of every placement.
At Renew, alternative provision does not mean stepping away from learning.
Our experienced education team delivers personalised curriculum teaching within a smaller, more supportive environment, helping young people re-engage with education and continue making meaningful academic progress.
We place particular emphasis on English and Maths, while adapting learning around each young person’s needs, starting point and wider educational programme.
Where appropriate, we work closely with commissioning schools to maintain continuity with the curriculum being delivered in school, ensuring that time at Renew supports — rather than interrupts — a young person’s education.

We want them to rebuild confidence as learners, experience success and begin to believe that they can achieve again.
Pathway 2: Personal Growth & Wellbeing
Building the foundations for learning and progress
For many young people, re-engaging with education starts with feeling safe, understood and successful again.
Our Personal Growth pathway supports young people to develop the confidence, resilience and self-awareness they need to engage positively with learning and the world around them.
Through consistent relationships, mentoring and targeted support, we help young people develop:
Confidence and self-esteem
Emotional regulation and resilience
Positive relationships and communication
Independence and personal responsibility
Healthy routines and wellbeing
Social and emotional skills
A stronger sense of identity, belonging and purpose
Personal development is embedded throughout a young person's time at Renew rather than treated as something separate from their education.
Our aim is to help young people better understand themselves, recognise their strengths and develop the tools they need to move forward.
Pathway 3: Skills Development & Future Pathways
Developing skills, aspirations and opportunities for the future
Education should help young people understand not only what they can achieve today, but what might be possible next.
Through practical learning and our network of community partners, young people have opportunities to experience different environments, industries and ways of learning.
Depending on the individual programme, this may include experiences across areas such as:
Mechanics and practical skills
Fitness, sport and wellbeing
Outdoor education
Animal care
Creative and vocational activities
Employability and life skills
Community-based learning
Careers and further education experiences
These opportunities are purposeful and linked to each young person's interests, strengths and intended outcomes.
They allow young people to develop practical skills, confidence and independence while discovering areas in which they may want to progress further.
Our goal is to broaden horizons and help every young person begin to see a realistic and positive pathway beyond Renew.
How Placements Work
Flexible provision built around the individual
Every young person’s placement at Renew is shaped around their needs, current circumstances and intended outcomes.
We work closely with commissioning schools and professionals to agree the most appropriate structure for each placement.
1:1 Provision
Individualised support for young people who need a highly personalised approach, greater consistency or a quieter environment in which to re-engage with learning.
Small-Group Provision
Carefully structured small-group learning that allows young people to build confidence, develop positive relationships and learn alongside others while still receiving a high level of individual support.
On-Site Learning
Provision delivered from our Bridgwater centre, combining curriculum learning, mentoring, personal development and access to our wider programme of opportunities.
Off-Site & Community Learning
Purposeful learning delivered through trusted community partners and external settings, giving young people opportunities to develop practical skills, confidence, independence and new interests.
Individualised Programmes
Placements can combine different elements of our provision depending on the needs and goals of the young person.
We work with the commissioning school to agree priorities, intended outcomes and the structure of the placement, with regular communication around attendance, engagement and progress.
