To the young people who have trusted us, the families who have supported them, the schools and professionals who have worked alongside us, our community partners, and the incredible Renew team — thank you for helping turn an idea into something real.

Our first year has been about building relationships, creating opportunities and helping young people reconnect with education in a way that works for them.

We’re incredibly proud of how far Renew has come, but even more excited about what comes next.

Renew Education: Our Alternative Provision Offer for September 2026

Welcome to Renew Education. In this webinar, we share the story behind Renew, what we have learned during our first year and how we are developing our alternative provision for September 2026.

Renew supports young people aged 7–16 who may need a different environment, a personalised approach or a fresh start in education.

Through strong relationships, small-group learning and purposeful real-world experiences, we help young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning and begin planning positively for their future.

During the webinar, we cover:

• Our journey and the values behind Renew Education

• How our 1:1 and small-group provision works

• Academic learning, mentoring and personalised pathways

• Our mechanics and practical vocational provision

A Year of Growth at Renew Education

As our first full academic year comes to a close, it feels like the right time to reflect on just how far Renew Education has come.

When Renew was created, the vision was simple: to provide young people with a different route through education — one built around strong relationships, personalised learning, meaningful opportunities and the belief that every young person has potential.

Even we could not have imagined how quickly that vision would grow.

25 young people supported in our first year

During our first year, 25 young people have accessed support through Renew Education.

Behind that number are 25 very different young people, each with their own experiences, strengths, challenges and aspirations.

Our aim has never been to create a one-size-fits-all provision.

Instead, we have worked closely with schools, families and young people to create individual programmes that combine education with the wider experiences needed to help young people re-engage, build confidence and make progress.

Education at the heart of Renew

Our curriculum provision from King Square in Bridgwater remains at the centre of what we do.

Young people have continued to access personalised academic learning alongside support with confidence, relationships, wellbeing and personal development.

For some young people, progress has meant reconnecting with English or Maths.

For others, it has started with simply attending consistently, trusting adults again or beginning to see themselves as someone who can succeed in education.

That progress looks different for every young person — and that is exactly why personalised provision matters.

Opportunities beyond the classroom

One of the most exciting parts of Renew's first year has been seeing our wider programme develop.

Through relationships with local organisations and professionals, young people have been able to experience opportunities including:

• Barista training

• Hairdressing

• Fitness and wellbeing at Watergate Studios

• Practical and vocational learning

• Outdoor education

• Mechanics

• Holiday programmes and enrichment experiences

We have also worked with partners including Cannington College to create opportunities for young people to experience learning in different environments and begin exploring possible future pathways.

These experiences are not simply activities added onto the school day.

They are designed to help young people discover strengths, develop practical skills, experience success and begin to understand what their future could look like.

The power of community

From the beginning, we wanted Renew to make use of the incredible people, businesses and organisations within our local community.

We believe young people benefit from meeting positive adults, experiencing real workplaces and understanding that learning can take place far beyond the traditional classroom.

Relationships, belonging, community and high expectations have been central to Renew from the outset.

The range of partners willing to support our young people during this first year has been one of the things we are most proud of.

Looking ahead

The next academic year represents another exciting step for Renew.

We are continuing to strengthen our academic provision while expanding opportunities in outdoor education, mechanics and practical vocational learning.

As Renew grows, our focus remains the same:

To create high-quality alternative provision where young people feel seen, supported and valued, while continuing to receive an education that helps them move forward.

There is still a huge amount we want to build.

But looking back at what has been achieved in our first year, we are incredibly proud of the young people, our team, our partner organisations and the schools and families who have trusted us.

And we’re only getting started.

Renew Education Joins Somerset Council’s Alternative Provision Framework

We’re delighted to share that Renew Education is now an approved provider on Somerset Council’s Alternative Provision Framework.

This represents an important milestone for Renew and another step forward in our aim to provide high-quality, personalised alternative provision for young people across Somerset.

Somerset Council’s Alternative Provision Framework brings together approved providers offering alternative education and support for children and young people who require a different approach to mainstream education.

What does this mean for schools?

Being part of the framework gives schools and education professionals another route to access Renew’s provision when they are looking for appropriate alternative education for a young person.

At Renew, education remains at the heart of every placement.

From our Bridgwater centre, we provide personalised provision for young people aged 7–16 through 1:1 and small-group learning.

Our approach combines:

• Academic and curriculum delivery, with a particular focus on English and Maths

• Personal growth and wellbeing, helping young people rebuild confidence, relationships and resilience

• Skills development and future pathways, using vocational, outdoor and community-based experiences to broaden aspirations and develop practical skills

Every placement is developed around the individual young person, their starting point and the outcomes agreed with the commissioning school.

More than a place away from school

We believe alternative provision should provide young people with a genuine opportunity to reconnect with education and make progress.

That means building strong, trusted relationships and creating an environment where young people feel safe and understood — while continuing to maintain high expectations around learning and development.

Our goal is not simply to provide somewhere for a young person to attend.

It is to help them rebuild confidence as a learner, experience success and begin to see positive possibilities for what comes next.

The next stage for Renew

Joining the Somerset Council Alternative Provision Framework comes at an exciting point in Renew’s development.

As we move into the 2026/27 academic year, we are continuing to strengthen our curriculum offer, develop new vocational and outdoor learning pathways and build partnerships across our local community.

Most importantly, we remain focused on the reason Renew was created in the first place:

To help young people feel seen, supported and capable of succeeding in education again.

Fresh Partnerships and a Growing Team at Renew Education

As we prepare to open our doors on 3rd November, we’re excited to share two big updates from Renew Education.

A New Partnership with Watergate Studios

We’re proud to announce a partnership with Watergate Studios, a fantastic local gym and wellbeing hub. This collaboration will allow us to deliver some of our sessions for young people in a professional, inspiring environment. Access to spaces like Watergate Studios is about more than physical fitness — it’s about helping our learners build confidence, resilience, and healthy routines for life.

The partnership also supports our team, with Renew Education staff receiving 75% off gym memberships at Watergate Studios. Supporting the wellbeing of our staff is just as important as supporting the young people we work with.

Welcoming Our New Staff Team

Renew Education is built on people, and we’re delighted to introduce some of the passionate educators who will be leading the way:

• Laura and Louise – our new Teachers/Mentors, who will provide tailored academic and emotional support to our learners.

• Laurelle Herft, Natasha Thornton, and Gemma Rossitor – our Pathway Specialists, helping young people develop life skills, connect with the community, and plan for their futures.

We couldn’t be more excited to have such a committed, skilled, and caring team at the heart of Renew.

Looking Ahead

With our launch date fast approaching, the energy around Renew Education is building. Together with local partners like Watergate Studios, and with our brilliant new staff team in place, we are ready to give young people in Bridgwater a fresh start and brighter future.

Renew Education - Opening This October

We are excited to share that Renew Education will be opening its doors to our first students in October 2025.

The business launched in September, and since then we’ve had many positive meetings with schools, PRUs, and parents who share our vision for providing the right support for children and young people.

At Renew, our values guide everything we do:

• Compassion – meeting every child where they are.

• Growth – helping young people build confidence, skills, and resilience.

• Partnership – working closely with schools, families, and the local authority to provide joined-up support.

We look forward to welcoming our first cohort and beginning this important journey together.
